En Root

1 Mins read

If you’re in Peckham and looking for a vibrant, plant-based meal packed with bold flavours, En Root is the place to go. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with colourful décor, a laid-back vibe, and staff who make you feel right at home. It’s the kind of spot where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy good food without any fuss.

I visited with my friend Finlay, and while I went for the raja wrap, he tried the root health bowl — a hearty mix of golden rice, coconut curry, daily dhal, fresh greens, and plantain. My wrap was packed with spiced chickpeas, grilled vegetables, fresh salad, and a tangy tamarind dressing, all wrapped up in warm naan. The flavours were bold, perfectly spiced, and super satisfying. Finlay’s bowl was just as good — wholesome, comforting, and full of rich, warming flavours. At around £9-£10 each, both dishes were great value for money.

To drink, we both had a mango lassi, which was smooth, creamy, and just the right balance of sweet and tangy. It was the perfect refresher alongside the spices in our food. We couldn’t resist sharing a cardamom sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and it was next-level — soft, rich, and soaked in a deep, spiced caramel sauce that made every bite pure comfort.

En Root’s menu is packed with creative Indian-inspired vegan dishes, from hearty thali platters to masala dosas and paratha tacos. As someone with Caribbean roots, I loved spotting familiar flavours like jerk seasoning and plantain worked into the dishes in a way that felt fresh and exciting.

Whether you’re vegan or just looking for something different, En Root is a spot that delivers on both taste and atmosphere. It’s casual, affordable, and full of good energy — definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.
