Banned or blamed: The impact of the XL Bully ban

1 Mins read

We investigate the recent ban on XL Bully dogs in the UK, exploring its effectiveness and public reaction amidst ongoing attacks.

Earlier this year, the UK government banned XL Bully dogs, labelling them a public safety risk after several high-profile attacks. While some saw the ban as a necessary step, others argue it unfairly targets responsible owners without addressing the root cause of dangerous behaviour in dogs. Today, we explore: Is the ban effective, and are there better solutions?

Since the ban more than 50 dogs are being destroyed every month, we will hear from Aaron whose dog had to be put down, he described being like “losing a family member”.

We’ll hear from dog owners, professionals, and animal welfare advocates about the ban’s implications, alternative solutions, and whether it addresses the root cause of these incidents. Through diverse voices, this piece will examine the complexities of breed-specific legislation and its impact on communities.
