1 Mins read

London’s iconic transport network is a vital part of the city’s pulse, but it’s also a space where many women feel unsafe.

Thousands of women experience harassment on London’s transport network each year, with reports of sexual crimes continuing to rise. The question remains: What can public transport services in the city do to make women feel safer?

Last year, 2,400 women reported incidents to British Transport Police, part of 20,000 sexual crimes reported across the city.

In this video we investigate the issue of women’s safety, hearing from a sexual harassment victim whose first-hand account reflects the fearful reality many women face every day.

We also speak to, Farah Benis, founder of @Catcallsofldn and a leading voice in women’s safety on public transport, who shares the solutions that could be implemented to transform public transport into a safer environment for all.

Through powerful testimonies and expert insights, this video package explores the commonality of these experiences, as we unpack the systemic factors fuelling violence against women and girls (VAWG).
